In the race: 101 candidates with at least 2 games (half of what the most-played rookie has) and 15 minutos per game. The 65-game rule does not apply. To be eligible a player must come off the bench in more games than he starts.

How we measure it

There is no official formula. The award almost always goes to the highest-scoring bench player: 19 of the last 20 winners were among the top three scorers on their team, and most played on winning teams. That is why scoring weighs the most, and record a bit more than in other awards.

  • 35% Scoring · Points per game: the highest-scoring bench player almost always wins.
  • 20% Impact · PER and Win Shares.
  • 15% All-around game · Rebounds, assists, steals and blocks per game.
  • 15% Efficiency · Effective shooting (eFG%) and true shooting (TS%).
  • 10% Team record · Winners usually come from winning teams.
  • 5% Minutes · Minutes per game.

Each measure goes from 0 to 100 among the candidates.
