In the race: 181 candidates with at least 2 games (half of what the most-played rookie has) and 15 minutos per game. The 65-game rule applies. Only players who played at least 20 games last season are in, and former All-Stars are out: the award is for players making the leap, not for established ones.
There is no official formula. Winners usually jump a lot in scoring and even more in minutes: some because they get a much bigger role, others because, in the same role, they become much more efficient. Voters mostly look at offense. We also count current level, so that going from very little to little does not win.
Each measure goes from 0 to 100 among the candidates.
